Greetings from Indian Motorcycle Adventures
As the weather cools here in Auckland our team is feeling the urge to travel. If that’s you too, read on below for details of our upcoming tours. This year, we’re also celebrating 25 years of touring in India. Steve (aka Gumby) spoke to Jesse Mulligan at Radio NZ about what he has seen change in India over 25 years and what has stayed the same in this incredible country. Departing on 26th October, our tour of colourful, vibrant Rajasthan has two bikes remaining. We have been operating tours in this most romantic of Indian states for 25 years now. Come with us and explore rural Indian life and Rajput forts and palaces.
Our tour of Nepal leaves on 24th November and has two bikes remaining. The mountain kingdom offers a wonderful combination of Buddhist and Hindu culture as well as spectacular roads and landscapes.
For those wanting to ride one of our classic Enfield Bullets in the tropics, our South India tour is for you. Traversing the sub-continent from coast to coast and back, this ride covers what is considered to be one of the top ten scenic biking routes in the world and immerses you in all of the beauty this region of India is famous for: rice paddy’s, exotic jungles and cardamom, tea, coffee and banana plantations. The tour includes a stay on a traditional house boat in the backwaters of Alleppey, where you’ll be able to witness an ancient maritime way of life. This tour through the cradle of Hindu culture ticks all the boxes: stunning scenery, tropical food in abundance and no shortage of culture and architecture to immerse yourself in. Bookings are filling fast for this tour departing from Chennai on 13th January 2026.
Next year, our tour of Ladakh will cross two of the highest motorable passes in the world. Perfect for the adventurous rider, this tour offers unforgettable riding in the iconic Himachel and Ladakh regions. 2026 Ladakh tour dates will be confirmed very soon. Bitten by the Bullet
Bitten by the Bullet is an entertaining account of how Steve Krzystyniak and his partner Lily came to set up and operate an innovative motorcycle tour company that takes small parties through the north-western Indian state of Rajasthan and other parts of India & Nepal.
Co-authored by Steve & travel write Karen Goa, the book was adapted into a radio series by Radio New Zealand.
The narrative jumps between two storylines – the tour group which co-author Karen and her husband were a part of, and Steve's accounts his and Lily's intrepid visits to temples, palaces and bustling markets on their trusty Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles.
